Welcome to
MYTHOGRAPHY COMICS!
This website is the home of AWUTOK-THON, EL VEJIGANTE-LUCHADOR! A Comic book character created by Miguelangel Ruiz. Here you will find announcements of events, updates and information on exhibitions, convention appearances and publications from Mythography Comics created by Miguelangel (miky) Ruiz.
Mythography is defined as the representation of mythical subjects in art, or the critical compilation of myths.
The idea of combining Mythography and Comics is to explore Storytelling to arrive at a narrative arc that creates a more inclusive worldview revitalizing well known archetypes from the modern mainstream and lesser known characters from ancient folklore.
Combining elements and traditions from Caribbean Folklore (such as characters from Carnaval) with contemporary versions of mythological characters from the genre of American, Japanese and European popular fiction (or pulp fiction) as expressed in Narrative Illustration (or Comics) opens up possibilities for products (and/or productions), art objects (Prints, Paintings, Sculpture), performances, and events that can transcend the boundaries of creative styles, themes and hierarchies to create a hybrid art-form of Folk/Pop Art known as
MYTHOGRAPHY COMICS.

TALES FROM LA VIDA is in print!
Tales from La Vida edited by Frederick Luis Aldama has been published and on sale. There is also an exhibition of some of the artwork from the book. Unfortunately I could not make it to the opening. It's at the Ohio State University campus where Frederick teaches about Latin-X studies.
But true to the good Professor's word!
I just got my copy of Tales From La Vida A LatinX Comics Anthology deftly put together by Frederick Luis Aldama and I love it. I am so happy to be a part of this great work. It collects Latino/Hispanic autobiographical and semi-autobiographical stories from various corners of the Comics world ranging from the work of legendary Industry greats like the Hernandez Brothers to Indy Comix oddities.
Like myself!
Did I mention that Frederick Luis Aldama is a recipient of the coveted Eisner Award. Because he is. Well, it's coveted by Comics creators. The Eisner is like the Academy Awards Oscar prize but for comics. They've taken to calling him Professor LatinX now. So yeah, fat chance I'll be hearing from him again anytime soon now that he's an Eisner Award winning Comics bigshot.
I'm kidding, of course. Thank you very much Professor LatinX for your vision!

RED, BLACK & BLUE - The First 100 Days APRIL 6 - 29, 2017
Opening Reception: Thursday, April 6, 2017, 6 to 9pm
ONETWENTYEIGHT 128 Rivington Street, New York, NY 10002
galleryonetwentyeight.org - 212-674-0244
Examining a president's first 100 days as an earmark of things to come truly began in 1933 with the Democratic take-over of the country after years of Republican corruption, political abuse, abject inertia and national regret.
In his first 100 Days Franklin Delano Roosevelt created dozens of agencies aimed at protecting American prosperity, providing relief to the poor, sick and elderly, and getting Americans back to work. FDR cared profoundly about the health and well being of all Americans. This year a president has been elected with different ideas.
onetwentyeight has invited artists from around the world to exhibit new work embodying their own artistic concept of what this current 100 days has meant.
Gallery Hours: Wednesday - Saturday 1-7 pm, Sunday 1-5 pm, and by appointment.
